Couple celebrates 65th anniversary at Kidderminster care home

Home news

A very special anniversary was celebrated at Brook Court care home in Kidderminster when resident Jean Burles and her husband Albert Burles commemorated 65 years of marriage.

The devoted couple, who married in 1951, were joined by their family and friends as well as other residents and staff for a special party at the care home on Oldnall Road.

The happy couple received anniversary cards and flowers from friends and family and everyone enjoyed tea and a cake which had been prepared by head chef, David Burfoot.

Jean, aged 85, moved to Brook Court in December 2014 and Albert, aged 88, visits her almost every day, as well as staying for respite at the care home. The couple has two daughters, Sally and Lynda.

Jean and Albert met while working at Contactor Switchgear in Wolverhampton and married shortly afterwards in 1951.

Joanne Gill, home manager at Brook Court, said: “We understand the importance of special milestones and a 65th wedding anniversary is a remarkable achievement. Albert is a true gentlemen and a very popular visitor here at Brook Court. It was an honour to be part of such a wonderful occasion.”
