Kings Court care home invites people in County Durham to celebrate Care Home Open Day

Home news

Care UK’s Kings Court care home in County Durham is inviting local people to visit the home at Market Place on Friday 17th June to join in its celebrations for Care Home Open Day.

From 2pm until 4pm, the team at Kings Court will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event. The day is in celebration of Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.

In honour of The Queen’s 90th birthday, there will be right royal celebration at Kings Court on Friday.  Residents and visitors will be able to enjoy homemade cakes, tea and coffee; and all those who drop-by will have the opportunity to meet residents and the Care UK team at Kings Court and take a tour of the care home.

Mitch Lloyd, home manager at Kings Court, said: “Care Home Open Day is about connecting people and enriching the lives of residents through building lasting relationships with the local community across the generations.

“Opening our doors is also a great opportunity to show what life is really like in a modern care home; and we hope to change any preconceptions people might have while also showing everything Kings Court has to offer.

“We have got a fun day of activities planned and are really looking forward to getting behind Care Home Open Day on Friday 17th June and welcoming the people of County Durham to be a part of it.”

Visitors to the Care Home Open Day event at Kings Court will also be able to pick up their copy of Care UK’s Eating as we Age.  The latest in a series of free guides for family carers, Eating as we age is packed with hints and tips for keeping healthy and hydrated in older age.  The guide can also be downloaded free at www.careuk.com/eat
