From 1.30pm until 4.30pm, the team at Priors House will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event. The day is in celebration of Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.
The theme of this year’s event at Priors House is the Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations, complete with a garden party where visitors can enjoy a cream tea and Pimms cocktail. There will also be live entertainment and a host of stalls selling crafts and handmade gifts. Visitors can indulge in a delicious barbeque and there will be fun and games for the whole family.
Francine Summers, home manager at Priors House, said: “Care Home Open Day is about connecting people and enriching the lives of residents through building lasting relationships with the local community across the generations.
“Opening our doors is also a great opportunity to show what life is really like in a modern care home; and we hope to change any preconceptions people might have while also showing everything Priors House has to offer.
“We have got a fun day of activities planned and are really looking forward to getting behind Care Home Open Day on Saturday 18th June and welcoming the people of Leamington Spa to be a part of it.”
Visitors to the Care Home Open Day event at Priors House will also be able to pick up their copy of Care UK’s Eating as we Age. The latest in a series of free guides for family carers, Eating as we age is packed with hints and tips for keeping healthy and hydrated in older age. The guide can also be downloaded free at www.careuk.com/eat
