Halstead care home hosts family fundraiser for local charity

Home news

The team at Colne View care home in Halstead is opening its doors on Friday 22nd July for an exciting family fundraising day for Essex Air Ambulance.

From 12 noon until 3pm, the local community are invited to drop in to the care home on Dame Mary Walk to enjoy a barbecue cooked, raffle, and live entertainment from local band Tanglewood. There will also be afternoon tea refreshments, all whilst raising money for the deserving charity.

Richard Gibbens, grandson of Colne View resident, Edith Wood-Smith, will also be speaking at the event about his personal experience with Essex Air Ambulance and the fundraising work he does for them.

Richard said: “Having witnessed first-hand Essex Air Ambulance at work with an accident at a neighbour’s house, I have invested interest in the organisation and the incredible work they do.

“From half marathons and triathlons to swimming challenges and endurance tests, I am always raising funds and awareness for the charity and this event is a great way to get others involved and increase awareness of a charity that any one of us could need at some time in our lives.”

Richard will be available on the day to discuss his experience with Essex Air Ambulance and how the local community can support the organisation. He’ll also discuss his upcoming fundraising events including a 12 hour swim that takes place on Saturday 10th September.

Omar Taylor, home manager at Colne View, said: “The work Richard does for Essex Air Ambulance is remarkable, the team and residents here at Colne View want to show our support to him and the charity by hosting our own fundraising event.

“It is important for us to build strong relationships with the local community and we hope members of the public will join us for what promises to be a fantastic day of fun and games whilst helping to raise money for a local charity.”
