Cheadle care home hosts falls prevention event

Home news

The team at Abney Court care home is inviting local people to a free event on Wednesday 21st September where they can find out more about preventing falls among older people.

From 1.30pm until 3.30pm, the Care UK team is welcoming Harm Gordijn, from Falls Management Training, to the home to give expert advice on preventing falls.  There will be a discussion on common causes of slips and trips, and guidance on how to maintain independence, together with activities and exercises to improve balance and reduce the risk of falls.

After the event, Harm will lead a question and answer session, and there will also be an opportunity for members of the public to meet the team at Abney Court and take a tour of the care home.

Abney Court home manager, Tracy Mitchell, said: “Here at Abney Court we take health and safety very seriously, so it is really important to us to be able to provide the local community with the necessary information to prevent this type of accident in the home.

“As many people are aware, falls can lead to further health issues and reduce quality of life. With this in mind, it is imperative we create a safe environment and ensure the correct procedures are in place to protect the older members of the community.”
