Free advice event returns to Silversprings care home

Silversprings care home in Thorrington is inviting the local community to its free event designed to provide support and practical advice for families caring for those with dementia.

On Thursday 10th November from 2pm to 4pm, the Care UK team at Silversprings will open the doors to the care home on Tenpenny Hill for its Understanding Dementia event.

Dr Nori Graham, a dementia specialist at Care UK, will be on hand to help people understand what it might be like to live with dementia. There will be information on what dementia is and how memories are lost, as well as useful tips on how to overcome communication barriers – with the aim of helping people discover positive approaches to caring for loved ones living with dementia.  

After the event there will be a Q&A session, and those who attend the event will also have the chance to meet the team at Silversprings and take a tour of the care home.

Home manager, Susan Oates, said: “At Silversprings we strongly believe professional knowledge, insight and shared experiences can make a real difference to the everyday lives of those caring for loved ones loving with dementia.  With the team here committed to offering advice and practical support, we are delighted to invite members of the local community to our Understanding Dementia event.
