She has been praised for her leadership and going ‘above and beyond’ and making great improvements within the home.
The Suffolk Care Awards was launched in March this year to celebrate good practice and find unsung heroes in the care sector, while raising the profile of adult social care as a whole. The highly competitive awards saw over 200 entries in the 11 categories, which culminated in an awards ceremony on Thursday 29th September.
Phillip Steyn, regional director, said: “We’re thrilled that Katy has won this award, it is testament to her commitment to her role as home manager. She has played an integral role in creating a warm, caring environment at Mildenhall Lodge where residents feel safe and happy, and the care team are supported and coached to grow within their roles.”
Commenting on her award win, Katy Hughes said: “I’m so happy to have won the award for motivational leadership in the Suffolk Care Awards. I would like to thank my team for all their hard work and support, which makes it a joy to come to work every day and create a wonderful environment for the residents.”
Residents and relatives have praised Katy for her kind, efficient, knowledgeable and supportive nature and always going the extra mile.
This follows Mildenhall Lodge being given the seal of approval from the Care Quality Commission with a ‘good’ rating. Further evidence of Katy’s leadership abilities were described in the report, which stated there was strong governance and leadership at this service, with team members feeling supported.
Another recent award win at Mildenhall Lodge, saw carer, Emma Abbey recognised in the Suffolk Going the Extra Mile Awards for Outstanding Care Practice. While the care home’s chef, Alan Cash, has reached the final stages of the Chef of the Year Awards in the National Care Awards.
