Meet seven-strong leadership team appointed at Ferndown Manor

Ferndown Manor has unveiled its senior level team and is inviting the local community to meet them at an exclusive first look at the home.

Ferndown Manor has appointed seven members of the community to make up its senior team. On Saturday 25^th and Sunday 26^th February, from 10am-4pm, local people are welcome to meet them as well as take a sneak peek at the brand new care home.

The three-storey home, which welcomes its first residents from Monday 27^th February, will feature 75 en-suite bedrooms, helping to generate over 80 jobs in the area when the home is full. It will provide full time residential and nursing care, specialist dementia care, and short term respite care for older people in Ferndown and beyond.

Home manager at Ferndown Manor, Janet Lewis, has recruited a senior team with a wealth of experience. These include Maria Livesley as deputy manager, Sally Maisey as team leader, Scott Moore as head chef, Sue Bassett as head housekeeper, Sue Mudie as lifestyle lead, Vincent Edmonds as business administrator, and Kevin Diaper as maintenance manager.

Commenting on the appointments, Janet said: “Ferndown Manor is a state-of-the-art care home and, while every design detail has been considered to provide the highest standards of care, having the right people working in the home is crucial to the overall experience of residents. All of the new team members are highly experienced, skilled individuals and have successful track records in their careers to date.

Janet added: “The open days will give visitors a chance to see the care home for themselves and to talk to the new team, while also getting an insight into what day-to-day life will be like at Ferndown Manor. They can also find out more about the kind of activities that will be on offer.”

Maria Livesley, deputy manager, is a registered nurse who has built her experience working at care homes in Bournemouth, resulting in being shortlisted twice in Care UK’s national awards. Having joined Care UK five years ago, Maria looks forward to continuing to deliver an excellent service to residents and their families, as well as supporting her colleagues in developing their skills and expertise.

Sally Maisey, team leader, has spent six months working as a team leader for Care UK, providing her with valuable experience for her new role at Ferndown Manor. Sally looks forward to working with the team to create a welcoming environment from the outset, as well as supporting the home’s first residents and their families.

Scott Moore, head chef, has previously worked opening a kitchen as part of a new build and is committed to delivering the highest standard of meals for residents. After seeing the new lease of life his grandmother found when she moved into a care home, Scott is looking forward to sharing the same sense of joy to those living at Ferndown Manor.

Sue Bassett, head housekeeper, has over 30 years’ experience in her role, and is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards. In her new role at Ferndown Manor, Sue hopes to make a difference at the home and help to brighten the residents’ daily lives.

Sue Mudie, lifestyle lead, has previously worked as a care assistant and activities coordinator, and looks forward to building relationships with each resident at Ferndown Manor. Sue will be working with the team to organise and plan lifestyle programmes that residents can partake in, encouraging them to continue their hobbies and interests.

Vincent Edmonds, business administrator, has demonstrated his ability to manage multiple departments following his experience at a number of schools. With the need to be a team player essential, Vincent is excited to work with his colleagues to help create a welcoming environment for residents.

Having spent 10 years working for the local fire service, Kevin Diaper, maintenance manager, is extremely passionate about providing the very best care. Kevin aspires to take pride in the home and his work in order to make sure residents are as comfortable as possible.

Designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives while promoting independence, the new care home in Ferndown will incorporate space for hobby and leisure activities. 

The layout of the building will facilitate the creation of close knit communities and will be configured into a series of individual suites with a dedicated lounge/ dining room.  Each bedroom will have an en-suite wet room, together with a flat-screen television, adjustable profile bed, and a 24-hour nurse call system.
