Mildenhall Lodge looks out for the community with fundraising efforts

Home news

Mildenhall Lodge has been taking part in a range of fundraising activities for the West Suffolk Hospital’s neonatal unit and the Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund.

Residents knitted baby blankets and clothes for the new arrivals, and the home raised £170 for the hospital by organising a raffle, with prizes including gift hampers and boxes of chocolates. Residents who had knitted the blankets and clothes also visited the hospital to see the newborn babies and their donated blankets and clothes in use.

The fundraising is part of an ongoing partnership with the hospital and the home hopes to raise more money over the next year.

Alongside the fundraising activity for the neonatal unit, Wayne Symonds, senior care assistant at the home, took part in a sponsored head shave for Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund.

Wayne braved the shave for the charity which provides practical, financial and emotional support for children living with cancer or leukemia, and their families. Residents, family and friends and the team at Mildenhall Lodge helped Wayne raise £200 for the charity.

Katy Hughes, home manager at Mildenhall Lodge, said: “We really enjoyed fundraising for the West Suffolk Hospital. The residents we took down to the hospital, also loved seeing the newborn babies and their blankets and clothes being put to good use. The residents were thrilled to be able to help Wayne with the sponsored event.

“At Mildenhall Lodge, we are always looking to support the wider community, and everyone got involved in the fundraising activities to support the work of the neonatal unit and the Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund. We hope to be able to do more fundraising throughout the year.”
