From 2pm-5pm, the team at Appleby House will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event. The day is in celebration of Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.
Residents and the team at Appleby House will be welcoming Epsom and Ewell Mayor, Cllr Liz Frost, pupils from Blenheim high school, and members of the National Citizen Service (NCS) to the day’s festivities. To celebrate the theme, guests are invited to wear national clothing from cultures around the world.
Appleby House has organised a world cuisine party to celebrate the open day, where the home’s chefs will be treating guests to a special barbecue and dishes inspired by cultures from around the world. There will be fun for all the family with a bouncy castle, tombola and plenty of stalls for visitors to browse, there will also be musical entertainment from a steel band throughout the afternoon.
Shona Bradbury, home manager at Appleby House, said: “Care Home Open Day is about connecting people and enriching the lives of residents by building lasting relationships with the local community across the generations.
“We cannot wait to open our doors to the community to showcase everything Appleby House has to offer and the difference care homes make to residents’ lives and their wellbeing. We have planned a fun day for all the family and a warm welcome awaits the people of Epsom.”
