The team opened the doors to the care home for the family-friendly event in celebration of Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.
Residents and visitors tucked into a sizzling barbecue and classic Italian dishes, all prepared by head chef Alex Stoneham and his team. Alongside the culinary delights, guests were also treated to live music from Jacen Bruce and a traditional belly dancing performance.
Mildenhall Lodge’s dog, Sinbad the Lurcher, also joined residents for the festivities and enjoyed a few too many barbecued sausages!
Katy Hughes, home manager at Mildenhall Lodge, said: “We had a wonderful afternoon celebrating Care Home Open Day with the local community. The event was a brilliant opportunity to break down preconceptions about care home life and showcase the warm and welcoming care environment here at Mildenhall Lodge.
“The residents really enjoyed sampling the exotic dishes, and the live entertainment got everyone in the party spirit. We look forward to welcoming the people of Mildenhall to join us again very soon.”
