Residents get inspired at Jubilee House for Care Home Open Day

Home news

Residents at Jubilee House welcomed local people to celebrate Care Home Open Day and revealed a stunning piece of art work inspired by this year’s theme of world cuisine.

Jubilee House was one of thousands of care homes across the UK to take part in the annual initiative aimed at challenging perceptions of care homes, connecting residents with people in their community, and developing relationships across the generations.

The brand new art project created by the residents was inspired by countries that they had visited and their favourite cuisines. The brightly painted piece spanned across the home’s windows and provided the perfect backdrop for the party, where residents and visitors enjoyed a delicious selection of dishes. Musical entertainment from local singers Georgina Thomas and Divina also got everyone in the party spirit.

Totka Zhelyazkova, home manager at Jubilee House, said: “Our doors are always open, but Care Home Open Day is a particular highlight each year, as it is a brilliant opportunity to showcase our home and celebrate with visitors, residents and colleagues alike.

“This year’s event was a real success, and everyone enjoyed getting involved in the activities and building on links with the local community. We hope that all our visitors enjoyed themselves as much as we did, and look forward to welcoming them back to the home for events in the future.”
