Highbury New Park was one of thousands of care homes across the UK to take part in the annual initiative aimed at challenging perceptions of care homes, connecting residents with people in their community, and developing relationships across the generations.
To celebrate the open day, the team at Highbury New Park has organised a summer garden party where residents and visitors enjoyed a selection of tasty treats, including a chocolate fountain with strawberries and marshmallows. They were also entertained by singer The Pearly King and took part in fun games and competitions such as best decorated cake and best dressed hat.
Lia Smochina, home manager at Highbury New Park, said: “Our doors are always open, but Care Home Open Day is a particular highlight each year as it is a brilliant opportunity to showcase our home and celebrate with visitors, residents and colleagues alike.
“This year’s event was a real success, and everyone enjoyed getting involved in the activities and building our links within the local community. We hope that all our visitors enjoyed themselves as much as we did and look forward to welcoming them back to the home for events in the future.”
