Summer arrives in Manor Lodge for Care Home Open Day

Home news

Residents at Manor Lodge welcomed local people for a summer garden party to celebrate Care Home Open Day.

Manor Lodge was one of thousands of care homes across the UK to take part in the annual initiative aimed at challenging perceptions of care homes, connecting residents with people in their community, and developing relationships across the generations.

Residents and visitors enjoyed a Rock ‘n’ Roll sing-along and had the opportunity to make new furry friends with animal guests from Wellies-On.

After working up an appetite, visitors tucked into a delicious lunch and afternoon tea, prepared by the home’s chefs.

To further commemorate the day, the home’s longest resident, Joyce Pusch, was invited to officially plant Manor Lodge’s new friendship tree, in memory of loved ones.

Juliana Miles, home manager at Manor Lodge, said: “Our doors are always open, but Care Home Open Day is a particular highlight each year as it is a brilliant opportunity to showcase our home and celebrate with visitors, residents and colleagues alike.

“This year’s event was a real success, and everyone enjoyed getting involved in the activities and building on our links within the local community. We hope that all our visitors enjoyed themselves as much as we did and look forward to welcoming them back to the home for events in the future.”
