Brook Court praised for dementia work in the community

Brook Court has been recognised by Kidderminster Town Council for its work with the Dementia Action Alliance.

The team at Brook Court were invited to attend a Dementia Action Alliance Recognition awards ceremony and were presented with a commendation from the Mayor of Kidderminster, Councillor Nicky Gale.

The team were recognised for their work in the community helping to raise awareness of dementia and supporting Kidderminster with its aim to be become a dementia friendly community.

As part of Brook Court’s work in the community, the team has been hosting Dementia Friends sessions for local people, and running free talks with dementia specialists for families caring for a loved one living with dementia.

The Dementia Action Alliance is made up of more than 150 organisations across England who connect, share best practice and take action on dementia. The Kidderminster Dementia Action Alliance was established in April 2016 to help the community become dementia friendly. 

Home manager, Joanne Gill, said: “We’re really honoured to have been recognised by Kidderminster Town Council for our work in the community with the Dementia Action Alliance

“Here at Brook Court we are committed to providing the best care for those living with dementia, but we want to extend this into the community so that those living with dementia can live happier, healthier and more fulfilling lives. We will be continuing to promote dementia awareness in the community, and overtime, hope to transform the way the people of Kidderminster think, act and talk about living with dementia.”
