The team at Brook Court welcomed three greyhounds, Teddy, Judy and Marty, and their owners Tracey and Gordon, from the Hall Green Greyhound Trust, to the care home for an afternoon of pet therapy.
Residents enjoyed meeting the well-behaved trio who lapped up the attention – enjoying being patted and stroked by everyone they met, and even given some treats.
Joanne Gill, home manager at Brook Court, said: “It was wonderful to see the smiles on everyone’s faces when the greyhounds arrived at Brook Court. They created rather a lot of excitement among the residents and Care UK team.
“Petting animals and being in their company has proven therapeutic benefits, particularly for those living with dementia, and you could see from the residents’ reactions just how engaged they were when given the opportunity to get so close to such lovely, affectionate animals. We will have their bowl and treats ready for the next visit!”
