Franklin House welcomed Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust (CNWL) director of nursing, Helen Willetts, her deputy, Collette Conway and Michelle Dyer and Luxmi Mohamud, both nurses from Tissue Viability (TV), to the home for an award ceremony. Care UK regional director, Eileen Coyle-Jones also joined the team for the event.
The team at Franklin House are among the first to test a new pilot scheme created by CNWL with the aim of reducing and preventing pressure sores developing in older people.
As part of the scheme, TV nurses visited local care homes, including Franklin House, to give all care teams pressure prevention training, the results of which have been monitored to see if there were any significant improvements.
The award ceremony was an opportunity for Franklin House to be commended having successfully competed 100 days without a pressure sore developing in the home.
Mathew V Mathew, home manager at Franklin House said: “We were delighted to have been selected as one of the first homes to take part in the new pilot scheme and am so pleased with the results.
“Resident health and wellbeing is the upmost priority of the care team here, so to be recognised by a new scheme like this is another great pat on the back for the whole team here at Franklin House.”
