The team at Silversprings on Tenpenny Hill invited barbers from Goodfellas in Colchester to take over the care home’s salon for the morning. The team offered cuts, trims and shaves to the men living at the home.
Afterwards, residents were treated to a special men’s lunch of steak and ale pie, which was followed by the residents’ favourite film, Sherlock Homes.
Silversprings home manager, Donna Cousins, said: “Here at Silversprings, we wanted to take the time to celebrate International Men’s Day in the home by treating the male residents to a real ‘men’s day’ and give them a bit of pampering!
“All the residents had a brilliant day and are all looking very sharp! I’d like to thank Gohar from Goodfellas Barbers for helping us celebrate the day and hope to welcome them back to the home in the future.”
International Men’s Day is a global initiative focusing on men’s health, improving gender relations and highlighting positive role models by celebrating achievements.
