The local community enjoyed a host of entertainment at Lauder Lodge, as part of its opening celebrations.
The team were joined by Kirsteen Powell, day care manager from The Open Door, who cut the ribbon alongside one of the care home’s first residents Barbara Telford.
To mark the opening, the team at Lauder Lodge donated £500 to The Open Door, a charity that helps prevent loneliness in the local community. The Edinburgh-based charity has been supporting vulnerable people for 36 years with day care services, regular meet ups and community clubs.
There was plenty of fun activities for all the family, including a special baking demonstration in the dining room, flower arranging in the lounge, cake icing in the coffee shop and nail art in the hair salon. Students from Towerbank Primary School also entertained guests with a special performance of some of their favourite songs.
There was also entertainment throughout the day from bagpiper John Brennan, and classical guitarist Ross Hamilton, as well as a caricaturist, Chris Taylor.
Those who attended the event also had the chance to meet the team at Lauder Lodge and take a tour of the luxury care home, as well as enjoy a selection of tasty treats made by the home’s head chef.
Lauder Lodge home manager, Michelle Reid, said: “We were delighted to welcome Kirsteen from The Open Door to officially open the home and mark this important milestone. We would also like to thank pupils from Towerbank Primary School and everyone who visited and helped to make this such a special day.
“Since we opened the doors to Lauder Lodge, our residents and their families are at the heart of everything we do, including the launch celebrations. It was fantastic to welcome so many local people to the home, our grand launch really was a day to remember.”
