The team at Britten Court welcomed the people of Lowestoft to enjoy Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative set up to develop lasting relationships between care homes and local communities, and to dispel common myths about care home life.
Residents and visitors raised a glass to the Queen on her 92nd birthday with a ‘Queen of Hearts’ inspired party, complete with Alice in Wonderland fancy dress and a Mad Hatter’s tea party.
Residents and visitors were joined by musical duo, Amer, as well as pupils form Roman Hill Primary School who put on a special dance performance for guests. There was also the opportunity to make some new furry friends with a visit from local organisation, Mini Donks, and their miniature donkeys.
Chloe Swarbrick, home manager at Britten Court, said: “We had a fantastic time getting dressed up in our costumes for a fantastic Care Home Open Day celebration.
“It was wonderful to see so many of our neighbours join us for the occasion. The residents had a lovely time and we hope everyone enjoyed the day as much as we did. We would like to say a big thank you to Roman Hill Primary School and Amer for making the day so special.”
