On Friday 18th May, from 10.30am-2pm, the team at Colne View is inviting local people for a ‘right royal knees up’ and to raise a glass to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Residents and the care team will be joined by children from Halstead Pre-School for ‘royal’ crown making, as well as the WI Warblers who will be performing traditional wedding songs in the care home’s café.
From 12pm on Saturday 19th May, the care home will be adorned with union jack bunting and residents will have their British flags at the ready for a live screening of the wedding and a special buffet – fit for a queen!
There will also be a reminiscence session where residents and visitors can talk about their own wedding days and share photos and stories with the guests and care team.
Kim Richardson, customer relations manager at Colne View, said: “Celebrating Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding day is not only a wonderful opportunity to bring the community together, but it’s also a great reminiscence activity for residents – particularly for those living with dementia.
“Many of the residents love to talk about the Queen and her life, so celebrating the marriage of her youngest grandson is a great talking point for us here at Colne View.
“We’re looking forward to bringing the bunting out once again for a weekend of celebrations, and we hope the local community will join us in raising a glass to the royal couple!”
