Echelforde celebrates Care Home Open Day with visit from Mayor

Home news

There was fun in the sun at Echelforde when it invited the local community in for a day of celebrations, with the help of the Mayor of Spelthorne.

The team at Echelforde welcomed the people of Echelforde to enjoy Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative set up to develop lasting relationships between care homes and local communities, and to dispel common myths about care home life.

To mark the event, the team was delighted to be joined by the Mayor of Spelthorne, Councillor Vivienne Leighton. Visitors and residents also enjoyed getting creative at an art workshop, which was led by Creative Station. Residents put on a bric-a-brac stall for visitors to browse, and there was also a bouncy castle in the garden for younger guests to enjoy.

Jagpal Singh, home manager at Echelforde, said: “We had a fantastic afternoon celebrating Care Home Open Day at Echelforde. The residents all really enjoyed meeting the Mayor and taking part in the art session, and it was brilliant to see so many of our neighbours come along for the party.

“Care Home Open Day is all about building bridges with our local community, and showing what life in a care home is really like. We would like to say a big thank you to the people of Echelforde, Councillor Vivienne Leighton for celebrating with us.”
