The team at Hollins Park welcomed the people of Macclesfield to enjoy Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative set up to develop lasting relationships between care homes and local communities, and to dispel common myths about care home life.
The home marked the occasion by throwing a royal-inspired party in honour of the Queen’s 92nd birthday. The team organised an “A Day at Blackpool seaside” themed event and were delighted to be joined by two ponies, which residents and guests were able to pet and feed.
Local MP David Rutley also joined in the gun and games, and everyone enjoyed a live musical performance from an accordion player and a ukulele player, which got residents and visitors in the party spirit.
Tracy Norbury, home manager at Hollins Park, said: “We had a fantastic afternoon celebrating Care Home Open Day at Hollins Park. Everyone had a wonderful time meeting the ponies, and the musical performances proved a hit.
“Care Home Open Day is all about building bridges with our local community, and showing what life in a care home is really like, so it was fantastic to see so many of our neighbours come along to celebrate. We would like to say a big thank you to David Rutley for joining our open day celebration, as well as the people of Macclesfield, for making the day so special.”
