Eye community joins Hartismere Place residents for Suffolk Day celebrations

Home news

Hartismere Place welcomed local people to the home for a day of family fun to mark Suffolk Day 2018.

Residents were joined by teams from the eleven other Care UK homes in the area, as well as members of the local community, to celebrate everything that is great about the county.

There was something for everyone to enjoy on the day, from hook-a-duck, lawn games and locally produced ice cream, to shopping opportunities with handmade crafts and treats at the many stalls at the event.

The party spirit was in full swing throughout the day, with musical performances from Year Two pupils from St Peter and St Paul Primary School in Eye and local band, Beaten Track.

Visitors had the opportunity to make some new feathered friends thanks to the Suffolk Owl Sanctuary, who brought along various birds of prey to the celebrations.

There was also the opportunity for some of the home’s retired farmers to reminisce about their younger years, with a visit from a 1957 Ferguson tractor and furrow plough.

Matthew Calver, home manager at Hartismere Place, said: “Suffolk Day is a highlight for many people in the community – not least with residents here at Hartismere Place, so we’re always delighted to be able to celebrate the occasion with a day of fun activities.

“This year’s event was fantastic. The sun was shining and it was so lovely to see the smiles on everyone’s faces. I’d like to say a huge thank you to St Peter and St Paul Primary School, Suffolk Owl Sanctuary, Beaten Track, and everyone who helped make the day so fantastic.

“I’d also like to say a special thank you to the residents and team members from our fellow Care UK homes – it’s always so lovely to bring everyone together, and days like these are a great way of doing this.”
