Celebrations all round! Pupils help Cleves Place celebrate national achievement

Home news

Cleves Place threw an ‘outstanding’ celebration event for residents, relatives, colleagues, council representatives, and the local community, after receiving a glowing report from the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

The home opened its doors to local people for a special event to celebrate the achievement of being named an ‘outstanding’ care home by the CQC – the highest rating a home can receive.

The day included drinks, canapés, live music and speeches from the Care UK team and Suffolk County Council representative, Ian Patterson, at the official ceremony.

Home manager, Sally Shadbolt, was joined by Margaret Foster, mother of resident Michael Foster, Barbara Richardson, daughter of resident Sylvia Mead, and resident Kathleen Coppin. Each of them gave a moving speech, sharing their positive experiences of care at Cleves Place and being part of the Cleves Place family.

Day club manager, Jennifer Knight, also recited a poem she had written about the home. A new commemorative plaque was unveiled to conclude the ceremony and mark the special occasion.

Residents and visitors were also joined by pupils from the Coupals Primary Academy who provided entertainment by singing a variety of songs from their recent play The Wizard of Oz, which was enjoyed by all in attendance.

Sally Shadbolt, home managerat Cleves Place, said: “As soon as we found out that we had received our ‘outstanding’ rating by the CQC we knew we had to do something special to mark the occasion. We wanted to celebrate with residents, relatives, colleagues, and everyone that is part of the Cleves Place family and has helped to make the care home the warm, friendly, home-from-home it is today.

“We all had a fantastic time celebrating our achievement, and it was wonderful to see so many faces from the community raise a glass with us. I’d like to give special thanks to the Coupals Primary Academy for their beautiful performance, and to Ian Patterson for helping us to mark the special day.”

Phillip Steyn, Care UK regional director, added: “We were all ecstatic to have another Care UK home here in Suffolk rated as ‘outstanding’ – it certainly is no mean feat and is a credit to all the hard work that has taken place – we are delighted to have been able to celebrate this with everyone.

“I am incredibly proud of Sally and the whole team here at Cleves Place; this accolade truly is a testament to their continued hard work and commitment to creating a family environment. I’m delighted this has now been recognised by the national care regulator.”
