Lauder Lodge is bringing the golf experience to its residents after unveiling a brand-new golf putting green
Residents at Care UK’s Lauder Lodge will be able to develop and practice their putting skills after the home officially opened its own outdoor putting green.
Named by the residents, the Lauder Links mini ‘golf course’ was inaugurated by Marc Owenson, a Scottish professional golfer from Gullane Pro Shop, who competed with the residents and their families in a fun ‘beat the pro’ competition.
Michelle Reid, home managerat Lauder Lodge, said: “The team at Lauder Lodge always takes the time to get to know the residents and understand what is really important to them, which enables us to tailor our activity programme to their desires and needs. Golf is a very popular hobby among the residents, and we are delighted to be able to give them a space to practice and hit a hole-in-one!
“Activity based care is a fantastic way to help residents to maintain their independence. Golf not only brings people together in a fun environment, but it is also a brilliant form of exercise and has positive physical and mental benefits – particularly for those living with dementia. I would like to say a big thank you to Marc Owenson for joining us on the day and offering our residents a memorable afternoon of golfing.”
