From 11am - 3pm, on Friday 28th September, Appleby House is taking part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning and hopes local people will join them in supporting the millions of people facing cancer in the UK.
Residents and visitors will be able to enjoy a relaxing afternoon sharing a cuppa with friends, along with a tempting selection of homemade cakes and treats – all of which will be available for a small donation to Macmillan.
Every year Macmillan organises the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in kitchens, offices and village halls across the globe to fundraise for people living with cancer. Since the very first coffee morning in 1990, over £200 million has been raised for the charity, enabling it to support individuals from diagnosis, through treatment and beyond.
Home manager, Shona Bradbury, from Appleby House is looking forward to the event at her home: “Sadly cancer is one of those diseases that seems to touch almost everyone at some point in their lives either as someone who receives a diagnosis themselves or knows a family member, colleague or friend who develops it.
“We wanted to do our bit for World’s Biggest Coffee Morning to show our support for all the amazing things this charity does – from grants for those unable to work to the amazing nurses. It also gives us an excuse to put on a bit of a party and invite local people, family and friends to join us, have a chat and help raise some money to support this highly regarded charity. I do hope lots of local people, family and friends join us on Friday.”
