Mills Meadow makes the finals in Suffolk Care Awards

Home news

Mills Meadow is celebrating after being shortlisted in the Suffolk Care Awards.

Mills Meadow has made it to the final stage in the ‘Excellent Stimulating Environments’ category in the awards, which recognise those delivering quality care services in Suffolk.

The regional awards reward excellence and shine a light on the work that individuals and care providers undertake.

The care team at Mills Meadow has been recognised for their dedication to providing activities for residents and enabling them to lead fulfilled lives. As well as organising regular activities, including a weekly day out, a textiles club and music therapy, residents are given as much freedom as possible to go out alone, encouraging them to maintain their independence.

Mills Meadow has also adopted a cat, as well as having two canaries, chickens and several tropical fish tanks which the residents help to care for.

Rebecca Calver, deputy home manager at Mills Meadow, said: “We are thrilled to have been shortlisted in the ‘Excellent Stimulating Environments’ category for this year’s Suffolk Care Awards.

“Here at Mills Meadow, we are very proud of the wonderful home-from-home environment we have created, and strive to ensure that residents’ continue to live enjoyable, fulfilled lives.

“The team is always organising new activities, many of which involve local groups. We understand the importance of creating partnerships with the local community and strive to connect residents with our neighbours by hosting clubs and events at the home. We’d like to wish good luck to everyone who has made the finals, we’re looking forward to the awards ceremony in October and have our fingers crossed!”
