Weald Heights offers advice to local community with two free events

Home news

Weald Heights in Sevenoaks is inviting the local community to two free informative events on eye health and diabetes in September.

The Care UK team at Weald Heights, on Bourchier Close, will open the home’s doors to the local community for its free events offering advice and guidance to the people of Sevenoaks.

The first event on ‘Macular Degeneration’, a common condition impacting vision, will take place on Wednesday 4th September from 2pm-4pm. The event will be led by Stella Black from the Macular Society, which helps people adapt to life with sight loss and regain their confidence and independence.

The talk will provide information on the condition itself, whilst also giving advice on how to keep the eyes healthy and ways to remain independent for longer.

The second free event on ‘Diabetes Awareness’ will take place on Tuesday 17th September from 2pm-4pm. Kieron Brennan, diabetes specialist from Diabetes UK, will be sharing information as well as advice and tips on how to live well with, and prevent, type two diabetes. There will also be a question and answer session as well as complimentary refreshments.

Maria Covington, home manager at Weald Heights, said: “At Weald Heights, we are passionate that professional knowledge and insight can go a long way in making a difference to the everyday life of those living with dementia and macular degeneration, as well as those that care for them.

“Providing free events like this allows us to offer advice and guidance to the people of Sevenoaks whilst also allowing visitors to meet the team at Weald Heights and tour the home.”

The ethos at Weald Heights is based on person-centred care, which means residents’ values are right at the heart of the home. Choice, variety and luxury are built into every aspect of life at the home, which offers a combination of professional, individualised care and luxury hotel-style comfort.

To book your free place at this event please call customer relations manager Amelia Moore on 01732 809 189, or email amelia.moore2@careuk.com.
