Double award win for Lowestoft care home

Home news

PDF icon 8004-CWF7166-Key facts sheets-2pp A4-core-Stanecroft.pdfA care home in Lowestoft is celebrating after it was recognised at a national awards ceremony.

The Residential Care Services (RCS) Stars awards recognise individual and team excellence at more than 120 care homes nationwide across Care UK.

The team at Britten Court, on Love Road, walked away with two of the 20 accolades handed out during the event, including the Apprentice of the Year and Meaningful Lifestyle award.

The panel of judges praised deputy manager, Sarah Watson, for her thirst for education and commitment to completing her level 5 course in Leadership and Management. However, it was Sarah’s fantastic work ethic that has led her from self-employed hairdresser to deputy manager in just five years, that set her apart from competitors in the category.

The lifestyle team at Britten Court were also commended for creating meaningful interactions for both residents and day club members by taking the time to get to know them individually. These conversations have brought about unique, personal experiences, such as enabling one resident with a ‘need for speed’ to ride a purpose-built trike, and another to visit Arsenal football ground.

Chloe Swarbrick, home manager at Britten Court, said: “We had a fantastic time celebrating the achievements of care teams across the country and it was brilliant to hear about the positive impact this has had on residents.

“Celebrating not one, but two team members winning awards is wonderful! There are huge advantages to growing your own talent in a care home, as it leads to a fantastic continuity of care. It also allows team members to get to know residents individually, enabling them to better support people to live active and fulfilled lives.

“I would like to thank Sarah and the team for all their hard work in making Britten Court a wonderful place to live for residents – every single person is such a valuable part of the team and I really appreciate their commitment to the home.”

Britten Court is a modern care home which provides full-time residential and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care. Designed to enable residents to live enjoyable and fulfilling lives, the care home has its very own cinema and hair salon, and there is plenty of space both indoors and out for relaxation and recreation.
