Team member at Halstead care home shortlisted for national award

Home news

A Halstead care home is celebrating after a team member was shortlisted for a national accolade.

Lucy Stanbridge, a care assistant at Care UK’s Colne View, on Dame Mary Walk, has been shortlisted for the ‘Best Dementia Carer’ award at this year’s National Dementia Care Awards. Lucy, who has previously worked in domiciliary care, joined Care UK in 2018 and works as a care assistant on Colne View’s dementia suite.

Commited to providing high quality care, Lucy ensures she understands the people she cares for and takes great pride in supporting residents to maintain their independence and retain a sense of purpose each day.

Both relatives and colleagues have commended Lucy for her professional and hardworking attitude, describing her as having a “special spark”. One relative said: “When my time comes to need the help of a carer, I hope Lucy will be around to take care of me! I would have every confidence in her.”

As well as caring for residents, Lucy’s dedication extends to helping other members of the team. Delivering induction training to new colleagues, she has helped to create proactive and supportive team members, which, in turn, has positively influenced the atmosphere and care quality within the home.

Lucy said: “I am thrilled to have been shortlisted ‘Best Dementia Carer’ at this year’s National Dementia Care Awards.

“I strive to provide an outstanding level of care, and treat each resident like they are my family. From getting involved with activities, to spending time with relatives, I ensure that I go above and beyond for each and every resident in my care.”

Razvan Stanbeca, home manager at Colne View, added: “The National Dementia Care Awards are a brilliant opportunity for individuals to showcase their commitment and dedication to dementia care.

“We’re delighted that Lucy has been shortlisted for this accolade – she works extremely hard and this is greatly appreciated by both residents and their families. I would like to thank Lucy and the rest of the team for all their hard work in making Colne View a wonderful place to live for all residents – every person is such a valuable part of the team and I really appreciate their commitment to the home.”

Colne View is a modern care home which provides full-time residential and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care. Designed to enable residents to live enjoyable and fulfilling lives, the care home has its very own cinema and hair salon, and there is plenty of space, both indoors and out, for relaxation and recreation.
