Teams at nine homes waiting to find out if they are taking home a trophy this Friday

Home news

Teams from Care UK homes as far apart as Stonehaven and Dorset are getting ready to travel to Leicester this Friday to find out if they are winners in a prestigious national award scheme.

The nine home teams are all shortlisted in the annual Caring UK Awards which were set up to highlight and pay tribute to care home teams that make an outstanding contribution to supporting older people.  Dozens of different social care providers will represented alongside Care UK – all hoping to take home a trophy.

Along with the ten homes, Care UK has also been shortlisted for the Best Care Group of the Year category alongside five other care home providers.

The team at one home, Hollins Park in Macclesfield, has a special reason to celebrate as they are shortlisted in two categories at the Caring UK awards. Home Manager Tracy Norbury said: “It is wonderful to be have been nominated in two award categories. Hollins Park is a home for life, regardless of a person’s challenges. We’re here to find ways to enable each person to live with independence and dignity. From riding a motorbike, serving drinks in our pub or visiting Truck Fest, my team ensures residents live active and purposeful lives.”

Many of Care UK’s shortlisted teams are no strangers to awards this year having carried off trophies from other competitions such as The National Dementia Care Awards and the British Journal of Nursing .

As well as enjoying a formal dinner, people attending the awards ceremony will have the chance to meet Emmerdale star and former 'Life on Mars' actor, Dean Andrews who will be hosting this year’s 2019 Caring UK Awards.
