How to prevent slips and trips - Windsor care home hosts free advice eventA care home in Windsor is inviting local people to a free event where they can learn more about preventing falls among older people.

On Wednesday 26th February, from 2pm-4pm, Care UK’s Mountbatten Grange, on Helston Lane, is welcoming a team of experts to give advice to the local community at its falls prevention and awareness event.

The Optalis Keep Safe Stay Well team will be on hand to provide expert guidance on preventing falls, reducing balance problems and maintaining independence. During the event there will be a chance to learn the common causes of slips and falls and discover ways of preventing them at home or in care. They will also offer helpful advice and tips on activities and exercises that improve balance and reduce the risk of falls.

This event also provides members of the local community with the opportunity to meet the friendly team at Mountbatten Grange and take a closer look at the care home.

Debbie Winwood, home manager at Mountbatten Grange, said: “Here at Mountbatten Grange, we strive to provide in-depth advice to people in the local community on topics relating to our work. To prevent health issues that occasionally occur from accidental falls, it is very important to the team and to the wellbeing of the residents that we provide essential information on falls prevention.

“It is imperative that we create a safe environment for older people in the community, and ensure that family and friends have the correct information to prevent accidents. This event has proved popular in the past, so we are looking forward to welcoming local people to Mountbatten Grange for what promises to be another interesting and inspiring afternoon of advice and guidance.”

Mountbatten Grange has been designed to deliver the very best standards of care and to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives. The home provides full-time residential, nursing and dementia care, as well as short-term respite and palliative care.
