Local care home helps Framlingham community to understand dementia

Home news

Popular advice event returns - a care home in Framlingham is inviting the local community to its free event for families caring for those living with dementia.

On Wednesday 11th March, from 2pm-4pm, the team at Care UK’s Mills Meadow, on Fore Street, will open the home’s doors to the community for its ‘Understanding dementia’ event.

Dementia specialist, Dr Nori Graham, will be covering a number of topics to help people understand what it is like to live with dementia. There will also be support and practical advice on what dementia is and how memories are lost, as well as useful tips on how to overcome communication barriers and discover positive approaches to living with the condition.

After the event there will be a chance to share experiences, as well as the opportunity to meet the friendly team at Mills Meadow and take a closer look at the care home.

Sally Shadbolt, home manager at Mills Meadow, said: “It’s natural to feel confused about the best way to help a loved one living with dementia, so our event aims to offer professional knowledge and insight to those who need it – as well as providing a hub for shared experiences.

“We want people to know they’re not alone, and we’re here to offer support. This event is always popular, and so we look forward to welcoming local people to the home for an inspiring afternoon of information and guidance.”

Mills Meadow is a care home designed to deliver the very best standards of care, and to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives. The home offers a range of services including residential care, specialist dementia care and respite care. Mills Meadow also runs a day club, which offers older people living independently in the community the chance to make new friends and take part in enjoyable activities.

To book your free place at this event, call customer relations manager, Chantal Sencier, on 0330 127 8375 or email chantal.sencier@careuk.com
