Quorn’s newest care home has opened its doors and welcomed the first residents.
Care UK’s Lonsdale Mews, on Farley Way, will offer long-term residential, nursing and short-term respite care for up to 64 older people, and features its own cinema, hair salon, café and outdoor activity area.
Toby Sturgess, home manager at Lonsdale Mews care home, has recruited a senior team with a wide range of experience. These include Jo Davison, deputy manager, and Jenny Cartwright, customer relations manager.
Jo, a registered mental health nurse and former dementia and safeguarding lead at a nursing home, has a wealth of experience in the care sector and prides herself on her people skills and approachability. Toby said: “Jo thrives when she is spending time residents and their families. Her openness and positive attitude are exactly what we’re looking for here at Lonsdale Mews and I am sure she will be a brilliant support to me, the team and the residents. I know she is looking forward to the ‘blank canvas’ ahead of her and really putting her mark on the care home.”
Jenny, who formerly worked in marketing and sales in the retirement living sector, has an in-depth understanding of how to support families as their loved ones move to a care home. Toby commented: “With her experience in the retirement living sector, Jenny understands residents and their families’ needs perfectly and knows how to make the transition as smooth as possible. She’s a true ‘people person’, and already puts a smile on everyone’s faces on a daily basis.
“I know I am speaking on behalf of myself, Jo and Jenny, when I say we’re thrilled to embark on a new exciting journey here in Quorn as we start to welcome residents to the home.”
The trio will also have the support of detailed-orientated head housekeeper Magdalena Ligocka, who formerly worked in the hospitality sector, head of maintenance Jamie Underwood, who has previous experience in care homes, and business administrator Jessica Gillespie.
Lonsdale Mews incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities, while the layout of the building is configured into a series of individual suites, each having a dedicated lounge/dining room to help facilitate the creation of close-knit communities.
