Residents at a Ferndown care home have not let the pandemic stop them keeping in touch with friends at a local school this Christmas.
Care UK’s Ferndown Manor, on Golf Links Road, received a special delivery from Ferndown First School to celebrate the festive season.
Specially made for residents, colourful Christmas cards featuring drawings and collages arrived at the home, as well as messages and festive notes. The home has an ongoing relationship with the school, after residents also enjoyed attending the school’s virtual nativity play, and is looking forward to working together on more initiatives in the future, including a pen pals scheme
Jan Cresdee, Home Manager at Ferndown Manor, said: “We’re feeling really festive here at Ferndown Manor, and receiving these Christmas cards was a wonderful surprise for residents.
“Intergenerational relationships have proven to be enriching for both young and older people, as they provide an opportunity for the different generations to learn from each other. We were thrilled to be invited to their nativity play, which the residents thoroughly enjoyed.
“This is no doubt that there is a beautiful friendship between our home and pupils at Ferndown First School, and we’re looking forward to working together again in the future.”
Ferndown Manor, which features 75 ensuite bedrooms, is a state-of-the-art home which provides full-time residential, dementia and nursing care, as well as short-term respite care. Designed to enable the residents to live enjoyable and fulfilling lives, the care home has its very own cinema, hairdressing salon and café, and there is plenty of space both in and outdoors for relaxation and recreation.
