Team members and residents at a Windsor care home have paid their respects to Prince Philip.
Mountbatten Grange, on Helston Lane, held a memorial service for residents to pay tribute to the His Royal Highness, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh – the home’s namesake.
The memorial service included a team member playing the national anthem on the piano, and residents created a special plaque and collage of images featuring the Queen and Prince Philip.
After the memorial service, residents reminisced over memories of Prince Philip and the Queen, and what the royal family has meant to them over the years.
Debbie Winwood, Home Manager at Mountbatten Grange, said: “We were all very sad to hear about the passing of Prince Philip. As we shared the Mountbatten name with the Duke of Edinburgh it seemed only fitting that we pay our respects in a special memorial service.
“Here at Mountbatten Grange, we are keen to honour those life experiences and memories which are important to residents, and Prince Philip has been a familiar figure for many, from his marriage to the Queen in 1947 right through to the present day. We wanted to come together to celebrate his life and service to the Queen.”
Mountbatten Grange has been designed to deliver the very best standards of care and to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives. The home provides full-time residential, nursing and dementia care, as well as short-term respite and palliative care.
