Night at the proms – Stansted care home concert hits the right note

Residents at a care home in Stansted enjoyed their very own night at the proms. 

The team at Care UK’s Mountfitchet House, on Coltsfield, decided to organise a classical music concert for residents to celebrate the end of summer.  

 

Inspired by the BBC Proms, which is enjoyed by residents living in the home, Mountfitchet House welcomed Woodwind of Stortford for an afternoon filled with music and dancing. 

88-year-old resident, Peter, said: “It was lovely to listen to the music and see the band play live in our garden. Joining in with our musical instruments was great fun; a really pleasant afternoon.”

Jane Maxwell, Home Manager at Mountfitchet House, added: “After such a challenging year, we wanted to organise an event to remember, filled with fun, music and smiles."

“Many residents enjoy listening to classical music, as it reminds them of happy memories and the associated emotions. After watching the proms on the television, we were inspired to bring the beauty of classical music to Mountfitchet House."

Designed to enable residents to live enjoyable and fulfilling lives, the care home has its very own cinema, bar and hairdressers, and there is plenty of space both indoors and out for relaxation and recreation.
