Picture perfect! Ponteland care home hosts party to celebrate 25th birthday

Home news

The community, along with some VIP guests, joined residents and their families at a Ponteland care home to toast a very special milestone.

The team and residents at Care UK’s Ponteland Manor, on Thornhill Road, created their very own photography exhibition to showcase the memories made since the home first opened its doors 25 years ago.

Ponteland Manor’s photography exhibition featured photographs and artwork made by residents and team members, past and present, as a tribute to the 25 years of Ponteland Manor – as well as older pictures from the last few years.

Visitors, including Mayor of Ponteland, Councillor Christine Greenwell, Councillor Nermal Segal, and residents alike enjoyed the special celebration and taking in the exhibition.

The special day saw visitors and residents getting into the party spirit and enjoying live music from Andi Fox, who sang some of the residents’ favourite tunes. Guests were also treated to an afternoon tea, including cupcakes, cream meringues, cream scones and chocolate shortbread. A spectacular three-tiered birthday cake, specially made by local baker Angie Furness Cakes, was also available for all to sample.

Paula Routledge, Home Manager at Ponteland Manor, said: “With our home turning 25, team members went all out to organise the ultimate party for residents and the local community to enjoy. We had fantastic decorations, a special photography exhibition and live entertainment to ensure our party was a wonderful success.

“We always aim to come up with fun activities here at Ponteland Manor and hosting exciting events and marking important milestones like this are a fantastic way to ensure residents lead fulfilling lives. Everyone had fun celebrating our twenty-fifth birthday bash – it was undoubtedly one of the highlights of the year.

“We’d like to thank everybody for coming, especially our wonderful singer, Andi Fox, and our special guests, Mayor Christine Greenwell and Councillor Nermal Segal.”

Ponteland Manor offers full-time nursing and residential care, as well as short-term respite. The home incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities and includes a hairdressing salon. The layout of the building is configured into a series of individual suites, each having a dedicated lounge and dining room to help facilitate the creation of close-knit communities. The home also boasts a beautiful garden which residents enjoy in the warmer months.
