Festival season is in full swing in Edinburgh – with three summer events set to take the stage.
On Saturday 24th June, from 11am-3.30pm, Care UK’s Lauder Lodge is set to hit the right note as it opens its doors to local people to visit its brand-new Summer Flower Power festival.
Murrayside will be inviting the local community to join their fun-filled Murraystock Festival on Friday 30th June, from 1pm-3pm, and Cairdean House is hoping everyone will get in the party spirit on Saturday 1st July, from 2pm-5pm, for its summer event.
The fun-filled festivals come as Cairdean House, Lauder Lodge and Murrayside celebrate Care Home Open Week, a national initiative that encourages care homes to open their doors and showcase what life in a care home is really like.
Lauder Lodge’s Summer Flower Power Festival will see guests invited to dance along to live entertainment from an ABBA tribute band who will be performing their classic hits from across the 70s. There will also be live entertainment from Alexander Great, with impressive magic tricks, contortionists and showstopping performances – sure to have everyone watching in amazement.
At Cairdean House, there will be a magician with a host of tricks up his sleeve, and a face painter on hand to keep younger visitors entertained. A variety of stalls will be open on the day for visitors to browse.
Meanwhile at Murrayside, guests will be able to put their dancing shoes on as they soak up the sounds of Margo and Steven. There will be festival games for visitors to enjoy, including plate spinning, flower arranging, and a barbecue, specially prepared by the home’s talented head chef.
Anees Riaz, Home Manager at Lauder Lodge, commented: “We’re delighted to be welcoming the local community to join our festival celebrations here in Edinburgh.
“Care Home Open Week offers the perfect opportunity to get together with loved ones, show what life in our homes is really like, and enjoy a celebration of live music. Many residents from our Edinburgh homes have fond memories of attending music festivals in their younger years, and we hope these events will encourage them to look back and relive these happy times.
“We have many music-loving residents, and we’re really excited to ring in summer in style as we host our first ever festivals. We can’t wait to strike a chord with residents and the wider Edinburgh community!”
