Edinburgh care home up for Scotland Care Home of the Year

Home news

A care home in Edinburgh is celebrating after being shortlisted for a prestigious national award.

The team at Care UK’s Care UK’s Lauder Lodge, on Wakefield Avenue, is in the running for ‘Scotland Care Home of the Year’ at this year’s Caring UK Awards.

The Caring UK Awards celebrate excellence and achievement by highlighting the outstanding contributions made by care home teams across the care sector in the UK.

The team at Lauder Lodge, who recently achieved strong 5s in their Care Inspectorate rating in their most recent inspection, have been praised for their compassionate and person-centred approach to care, ensuring residents are able to achieve a sense of purpose and live fulfilling lives.

Seeking to help residents lead fulfilling lives, team members go above and beyond to help grant resident wishes. One wish saw resident Betty co-pilot a plane and another wish saw a resident go fishing, which helped bring back happy memories. The impact of these meaningful wishes has given residents the confidence to be able to do things they thought no longer possible.

Empowering residents to be as independent as possible and feel a sense of purpose, the team also give residents the opportunities to get involved with daily tasks at the home, should they wish to – from helping out at reception to being involved in mealtime audits.

Anees Riaz, Home Manager at Lauder Lodge, said: “We’re delighted to be shortlisted for ‘Scotland Care Home of the Year’. Being nominated for this award showcases every team member’s commitment and all the hard work they put in every day to make Lauder Lodge a great place to live and work.

“Here at Lauder Lodge, we believe in the power of promoting independence and enabling residents to lead fulfilling lives. Every single team member goes the extra mile for residents every day, and their determination to provide the highest possible standards of care never wavers.

“We look forward to seeing everyone at the awards ceremony later this year, and hope we come away as the winners!”

The Caring UK Awards ceremony will take place on 7th December at the Athena, in Leicester.

Lauder Lodge is a state-of-the-art care home which provides full-time residential, nursing and dementia care. Designed to enable residents to live enjoyable and fulfilling lives, the care home has its own café and hair salon, and there is plenty of space, both indoors and out, for relaxation and recreation.
