Poole care home invites community to Friendship Café

A care home in Poole is welcoming the local community to its café to help people build new friendships with their neighbours.

In support of National Loneliness Week, from Monday 9th June to Sunday 15th June, Care UK’s The Potteries, on York Road, is inviting residents of Broadstone and surrounding areas along to its new Friendship Café in a bid to create a new permanent community hub at the home.

Every day of the week from 9am-5pm, local people are encouraged to visit the home’s newly refurbished café and enjoy hot drinks and homemade cakes in good company.

The café is open to anyone who wishes to make new friends and chat with residents, team members and other community members in a relaxed environment. It is hoped the home will eventually become a fully established community hub for the local area.

Zita Turner, Home Manager at The Potteries, said: “Here at The Potteries, we strive to have a positive impact on our community, and we believe that no one should feel alone.

“Building support systems is extremely important, and we are committed to helping local people understand the help and expertise available at our Friendship Café – a space where everyone will be able to relax and enjoy themselves.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming local people and meeting some new faces while enjoying a chat over a cup of tea and slice of cake.”

The Potteries has been designed to deliver the very best standards of care and to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives in a luxury environment. The home provides full-time residential, nursing and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care, and also boasts plenty of space – both indoors and out, for relaxation and recreation.
