We are proud to announce that Care UK have taken over the leadership and management of two co-located care homes and a suite of 11 assisted-living, serviced apartments, collectively known as The Hollies.

Care UK’s management contract came into effect on Monday 1st September 2025. It includes the Hollies Nursing Care Home, Holly Oak Dementia Care Home, and The Woodlands Apartments, all located in Dursley, Gloucestershire.
Care UK has more than 40 years’ experience of providing award-winning, high-quality care for older people. With the addition of these homes, Care UK now operates 165 homes across England, Scotland and Wales and has the highest care quality rating of all large providers in the country.
Andrew Knight, Chief Executive Officer of Care UK, said: “We are excited about taking on these stunning properties and are looking forward to building on the high standards of care at both The Hollies and Holly Oak. The homes have longstanding and close-knit ties with the local community, and we will be looking to maintain and develop these to ensure residents and colleagues remain connected to Dursley and its surrounding villages.”
This change in management follows the retirement of The Hollies’ former owners, Jonathan and Kaye Hawkins, who built up and ran the sites over a 17-year period.

Jonathan Hawkins, former Managing Director of The Hollies said: “Whilst we are sad to be leaving The Hollies, Kaye and I are confident that we are entrusting the management of our homes to a solid and trusted operator who will preserve the high standards of care and the ethos of our company.”
The two homes, which are rated ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission, consist of 104 rooms to support residents with a variety of needs, providing specialised support for dementia care and nursing care.
The Hollies Nursing Care Home and Holly Oak Dementia Care Home prioritise a quality of care, exceptional dining, and a high standard of living for residents. As well as spending the summer in the homes’ outdoor cinema and dedicated events area, residents can enjoy treatments at the beauty salons of each home, take in a cream tea at the onsite Bessy’s Tea Room, or enjoy their very own pub.
Phillip Steyn, Operations Director of Care UK’s Central Division will take responsibility of the new homes with the support of Regional Director Jemma Griffiths.
