Construction starts on multi-million-pound Ipswich care home

Work has now begun on a new multi-million-pound care home in Ipswich – complete with its very own café, cinema and hair salon.

When finished, the Care UK home on Kettlebaston Way will offer residential, dementia, nursing and respite care for up to 70 older people and create 65 jobs.

The facility is expected to welcome the first residents in spring 2028. Secure and wheelchair-friendly landscaped outdoor spaces will include sensory gardens and seating to give residents the opportunity to spend quality time outdoors.

Jason Protheroe, Development Project Manager for Care UK, said: “We’re delighted to share that work has commenced at Ipswich’s new site. This impressive development – set to become our 15th care home in Suffolk – reflects our commitment to improving residential care in the region.

“At Care UK, we take great pride in the build quality of each home, carefully considering design and layout in order to improve the everyday experiences of those living in a care environment. This thoughtfully planned new home will live up to these standards, providing a high-quality home for older people in Ipswich and the surrounding areas.”

Jordan Connachie, Managing Director of Kori Construction, added: "Breaking ground on this new care home is a significant milestone and marks the beginning of another exciting chapter in our long-standing partnership with Care UK and Morrison Community Care Group.

“Having successfully delivered a number of high-quality care environments together, we're delighted to see work underway on what will become an outstanding new home for the Ipswich community.

“We look forward to working closely with Morrison Community Care Group, Care UK and our project partners over the coming months to deliver a care home that will make a positive and lasting difference for residents, their families and the wider community."

Designed to enable residents to lead active and fulfilling lives, while also promoting independence, the new Care UK home in Ipswich will incorporate plenty of space for leisure activities and hobbies. The layout of the building will be configured into a series of individual suites, each having a dedicated lounge/dining room to facilitate the creation of close-knit communities.
