A care home in Eye pulled out all the stops to mark a special anniversary in style with a host of VIP guests.
It was party time at Care UK’s Hartismere Place, on Castleton Way, as residents, team members and the local community came together to celebrate the home’s 10th birthday in the presence of Tunie Brandon, Eye Town Council Mayor.

On the day, team members organised a lively celebration featuring live music from "The Rum Ol Rockers" that had everyone’s toes tapping. Wellbeing donkeys, as well as face painting artists, also joined in the party along with the local police.
Adding to the festivities, the home’s Head Chef, Laura Wheeler, baked 100 cupcakes for everyone to enjoy, while the home was beautifully decorated with ribbons, balloons, and banners to mark the special occasion.
Resident Tony Chambers said: “It was a beautiful day – the band was brilliant, and I really enjoyed a cold beer and trying on the mayor’s chain of office!”
Tony’s wife, Pearl also a resident at Hartismere Place added: “We enjoyed the whole day from start to finish, especially as we got to spend it with our family. Our favourite thing about living at Hartismere Place is that we feel secure and, after meeting over 70 years ago, we’re still able to be together.”
Claire Martin, Home Manager at Hartismere Place, said: “We had a fantastic time marking a decade of being open in true Hartismere Place fashion – with plenty of music!
“It has been an incredible 10 years, and we are grateful for everyone who has been part of this journey with us. From hosting memorable themed events for the community to joining in nationwide initiatives to promote reading or make residents’ wishes would come true, it is safe to say we have been busy – but we wouldn’t change it for the world.
“We can't wait to see what the future has in store for us; may the years ahead be just as exciting as the last 10!”
Hartismere Place, rated ‘outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission, has been designed to deliver the very best standards of care and enable residents to lead active and fulfilling lives. The home provides full-time residential and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care, and the team also operates a day centre that is open to the community throughout the week.
