Residents at a Worcester care home had a hoot of a morning with feathery friends.
Residents at Care UK’s Perry Manor, on Charles Hastings Way, had an egg-cellent time when they welcomed some very special birds of prey from Walk with Hawks as part of the RSPB’s Big Garden Birdwatch.

On the day, residents got to meet and hold a host of birds, including a burrowing owl and falcon. Everyone learned about each bird’s characteristics, their food preferences, and how they hunt their prey in the wild.
Jackie Osborne, a resident at Perry Manor, said: “I’m a farmer’s daughter so I’ve always loved animals. It was so lovely to see the birds of prey, they were just beautiful.”
Katherine Matthews, Home Manager at Perry Manor, said: “We loved welcoming our beady-eyed friends into the home – we were all in awe of them, and they got all the residents smiling.
“Here at Perry Manor, we are always hosting new and exciting activities for residents. Animal therapy has proven to be incredibly beneficial for older people, as it can prompt social interaction and have a calming effect; and this event was perfect for just doing that.
“I’d like to thank the team at Walk with Hawks for making the day so memorable; we’re already looking forward to our next visit.”
Perry Manor is a state-of-the-art Care UK home, which provides full time residential, nursing and dementia care, as well as short term respite care. Rated outstanding by the CQC, the home is designed to enable residents to live enjoyable and fulfilling lives, the care home has its very own cinema, cafe and hair salon, with plenty of space both indoors and out for relaxation and recreation.
