Edgbaston care home rolls out red carpet for awards ceremony

A care home in Edgbaston has held an awards gala to celebrate the achievements of residents and team members.

The team at Care UK’s Metchley Manor, on Church Road, threw a black-tie party recognising residents’ and the team’s successes, quirks and memorable moments from the past year.

Donned in their most glamorous outfits, guests were invited to walk the red carpet before being welcomed to a completely transformed area of the home, where they enjoyed a glass of bubbly and canapés on arrival – the true VIP experience.

The ceremony was presented by special guest and host for the night Barry Styles. Each resident received an award, with categories ranging from ‘The Most Glamorous’ to ‘Wine Connoisseur’.

During the ceremony, entertainer Chris Behan delighted attendees with an upbeat piano performance.

To end the celebrations, residents and guests enjoyed a premium three-course meal specially prepared by the home’s Head Chef, Scott Tame, and his kitchen team to make it a full sensory experience.

Resident and winner of the ‘Resident Ambassador’ award, Peter Favier, said: “I am very proud to be an ambassador and the day was the most joyful event I have attended.”

Kim-Marie Newton, Home Manager at Metchley Manor, added: “Whether it be for ‘The Most Glamourous’ or ‘The Most Gallant’, each award presented told a story of individuality. It was such a privilege to honour the wonderful people who make our home so special.

“Everyone had a fabulous time getting dressed up, eating delicious food and guessing who would win which award! The ceremony provided a great way to encourage residents and the team to think back over the past year at all the wonderful memories they’ve made and to share their achievements.

“It really was a day to remember. We’re looking forward to even more happy experiences with the residents in the coming year.”

Metchley Manor incorporates plenty of space for hobby and leisure activities, including its own café, hair and beauty salon and tavern. Its expert team provides full-time residential and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care, while the building offers both assisted living and a reminiscence suite to facilitate individual care requirements.
