Residents at a care home in Hailsham swept into friendly competition during an exciting afternoon of sports and fitness.
Care UK’s Bowes House, on Battle Road, welcomed Happiness in Motion to the home for an afternoon of interactive challenges designed to get everyone moving and having fun.

On the day, the lounge was transformed into a mini sporting arena, complete with friendly competition and plenty of cheer. Residents took part in a host of exciting sports, including new age curling, bowling, and boccia.
For some residents, it was a nostalgic return to the bowling alleys and games halls of their younger days, sparking memories of family outings and social clubs.
Matthew (63) said “I have never tried curling before, but it was a really fun afternoon, and I enjoyed the competition with others!”
Lisa Phillips, Customer Relations Manager at Bowes House, said: “The atmosphere was absolutely wonderful. Everyone threw themselves into the activities, and it was lovely to see residents trying something new, cheering each other on and even engaging in a bit of good‑natured rivalry.
“What stood out most was the laughter. You could see people rediscovering skills they hadn’t used in a while, sharing stories, and connecting with each other in such an uplifting way.
“Events like this are so important because they bring joy and movement – which is particularly important for older people, as bone density decreases as we age. We’re already looking forward to the next visit from Happiness in Motion.”
