Esther Oluwatosin Adams

Home Manager

Esther Oluwatosin Adams

I have over a decade worth of experience in the health sector both in the NHS as a Registered Nurse, working as a Cinical Lead and Operational Manager for a private health company.

Empathy, patient centred care and effective team leading are some of the qualities and skills set I display in my managerial position.

The services provided by Care UK reflects the same quality and this is some of the reason why I chose to join the company in 2022. Care UK is a leading care provider with over 156 homes and have the most Good and Outstanding CQC rated homes amongst large providers. It is a privilege to work for such a great company and serve our community.

My favourite part of each day is working alongside my team, meeting with relatives and listening to their childhood or memorable moments with their loved one, having conversations or playing card games with the lovely residents.

Buchanan Court is not just a residential home, it is a home filled with fun, joy, laughter and good care and we look forward to welcoming you home.

Rona Belle Pronto
Deputy Manager

I originally joined Care UK because the company has a good reputation. I feel that working within Care UK enables me to have better support and opportunity for career progression.

I have worked in nursing and as a Clinical Lead, gaining experience at several large care providers before joining Buchanan Court as Deputy Manager.

As Deputy Manager, being compassionate and caring in nature is important. Also, being able to act as a good example to staff, leading by example and supporting the team.

The biggest challenge I have had in my career was during my adaptation course. Having originally trained in the Philippines, I had to complete the course to register as a nurse here in the UK. Outside of work I spend most of my time video calling my family as they are still in the Philippines.

Each day I look forward to seeing both residents and staff happy and contented. The staff at Buchanan Court have always been welcoming and supportive.

I enjoy every minute I spend at the home.

Cherian Karthika
Clinical Lead

Before joining Care UK in 2018, I worked in elderly care at Ealing Hospital. I have my master’s degree in vulnerable adults, and achieving this was probably the biggest highlight of my career so far.

In this role, it’s important to have good communication skills and to be patient and polite. You need to lead by example and be trustworthy and transparent at all times.

My favourite part of each day is dealing with the day’s care duties. I enjoy delegating tasks to provide personalised care for residents living in Buchanan Court. I believe it’s important to work well in a team, where everyone is passionate in their role.

When I’m not working, I like to sing, cook and spend time with my son.

Lovelie Joy Ibanez
Lifestyle Coordinator

I joined the company in 2021 as I love to work with elderly people and also wanted to work in a big organization. Working at Care UK seemed the perfect place to broaden my skills and have new experiences.

Every day I enjoy being with the residents, chatting and finding out more about their lives. Discovering their interests, hobbies and needs helps us plan a varied and fulfilling schedule of activities.

I especially look forward to planning special events which recognize the residents that we have in the home. It can be challenging coming up with ideas and adapting to residents' needs, though it is always rewarding when an idea comes together.

Roxana Mihalyi
Unit Manager

I started my career as a carer working in private homes. I joined Care UK in 2018 to gain more experience as I’m passionate about what I do. Becoming a Unit Manager was the highlight of my career so far.

Care UK gives colleagues the opportunity to improve and grow our skills, which I really appreciate. I’m currently studying and learning lots about the care industry. I spend a lot of my free time gaining more knowledge so I can put it into practice at Buchanan Court.

As a Unit Manager, you should be kind and treat others as you would your own family. By working hard, we give residents the best care possible. It’s important to work as a team in a care home and to never judge others.

I enjoy being part of Care UK and working together with others to deliver a high quality of care to make a difference in residents’ lives.

Andrea Onaci
Head Housekeeper

Caring for older people is a great honour for me. I started working for Care UK in 2022 because it is a top care provider in the UK with a commitment to helping older people live fulfilled lives. My previous role was in a five-star hotel, Conrad London St James.

Strong leadership skills are important in this role in order to manage a team of cleaners effectively. Good communication skills, organisational skills and an eye for detail are also critical.

Working at Buchanan Court is incredibly rewarding. I love knowing that I’m making a difference in other peoples’ lives. What I do keeps the residents safe, and I get great satisfaction out of chatting with them.

I enjoy spending time with my family outside of work. A walk in the park or reading a book together are my favourite activities. I also like cooking and baking, especially cheesecake and doughnuts!

Trevor Salomon
Resident Ambassador

Following a career as an international marketing director, I chose to step away from my professional role in 2011 when it became evident I needed to devote time to my wife, Yvonne, and her emerging memory problems. These were eventually diagnosed as young onset Alzheimer’s disease when she was 57 years old.

My approach to looking after her was inspired by the style I had previously adopted in my work life, namely to see obstacles simply as inconveniences that have to be circumnavigated.

When Yvonne became a Buchanan Court resident in May 2019, I took to volunteering my time for a number of dementia charities. I am a regular speaker at events and in the media, helping to raise awareness about those living with dementia and the challenges faced by carers and family members who support them.

Outside of my charity commitments, I spend as much time as possible with my two children and two young grandsons.
