My time with Care UK goes back to 2000!
I began as a care assistant but I worked my way up. I’ve actually worked in health or social care all my career – in fact, all my family work in related fields.
At Care UK I’ve helped to refurbish a care home, I’ve held a Dining for Dementia auction for charity – there are always opportunities to get involved that you could never predict. I work with a great team here at Buchanan Court and I’m really enjoying supporting them, as well as the families who come to us looking for great care.
I’m passionate about cooking delicious food that will put a smile on residents’ faces, and that’s why I joined Care UK.

I’m an experienced care sector catering manager and have achieved an outstanding five star rating from the CQC for all of the organisations that I’ve worked in. I’m committed to delivering excellent service and love getting feedback from residents. If they have enjoyed what we’ve created, I’m happy.
I was working in accounting before I moved to Buchanan Court in 2017.
I really wanted to work with older people, supporting them and their families, and to develop my skills in a large organisation. Care UK is a very good company to work for, and rewards dedication and talent.
There’s always something happening at Buchanan Court: no two days are the same. I joined the home and the team when it was brand new, which was exciting and challenging in equal measure! It’s interesting and rewarding to see the home develop and to see residents truly settling in and making the home their own. It’s lovely to see. Buchanan Court is a happy home, and I’m very proud to work here, using my skills to support families and older people.
I joined the Buchanan Court team in March 2019 because Care UK is known for the great care it offers and how it supports its colleagues to progress professionally.
I was actually working as a Casino Manager before I worked here, but I have also worked in housekeeping in roles prior to that.
It’s been a huge boost for me to reach management level and to be overseeing a team, and I love the time I get to spend interacting with residents. Doing whatever I can to help them gives me huge pleasure. It’s wonderful to see them happy and I’m looking forward to seeing them blossom further, and developing great relationships with them.

From catering to maintenance, housekeeping to administration, our home support teams play a crucial part in ensuring individuals enjoy an exceptional and safe service every day.

Each of our homes have a trained Infection Control and Prevention Champion – they are responsible for carrying out daily infection control audit and ensuring cleaning protocols are meticulously applied.
