Chocolate Works care home in York is set within the beautifully restored former Terry’s Chocolate Factory, blending rich heritage with modern comfort.

Our experienced and dedicated team provides residential, nursing, dementia, and end-of-life care, ensuring that as residents’ needs evolve, we are there to support them every step of the way.

At the heart of the home is a bright and spacious atrium - a vibrant social hub and much-loved part of daily life. Here, residents can enjoy a welcoming bistro, a hair and beauty salon, and a charming reminiscence-style Terry’s chocolate shop. The home also features its very own pub, The Duke of York, as well as a cinema room. Residents can choose from a stunning collection of en-suite bedrooms, including some suitable for couples.

As part of our continuous effort to make Chocolate Works an amazing place for the residents to live in, the home is undergoing extensive refurbishment.

We pride ourselves on the transparency of our care quality and fee information - ensuring you can trust us to care from that very first step.

The home was previously operated by Springfield Healthcare. It is now owned by WT UK Opco 4 Limited and is managed and staffed by Care UK.

Once the headquarters of Terry’s Chocolate factory, the building was transformed in 2017 into the warm and welcoming care home it is today. When your loved one moves to Chocolate Works they can live every day in the way they choose – getting involved in our many activities and outings, helping around the home or enjoying one-to-one time with our team. We’re here to make your loved one’s days meaningful.

With over 36 years of experience in the healthcare sector, including 20 as a Registered Home Manager, I’m proud to lead the team at Chocolate Works care home. I’m proud of the strong relationships I build with residents, families, staff and the wider community. I start every day greeting residents and staff, and I make time for regular walkabouts to stay present and involved.

Everyone is friendly and welcoming, and it's a pleasure to visit. I've got to know some of the care team quite well and they really understand my loved one's needs. They know what she likes and what she dislikes and they respect her preferences. They keep an eye on her and they can always tell me what she's up to and how she has been feeling when I speak with them. They understand her as a person and they know how to make her happy.

The previous home our loved one was in was not good at all, and it's just such a relief to see him looking brighter and smiling again. For us, knowing he is safe is our priority and the nurses are excellent, caring, good communicators and responsive. It's so lovely to visit and see how he gets along with the team.
